Have a Break

Dream big and work hard is the motto of the generation it seems. We need to succeed socially and financially. Who doesn't want a bigger car and a better job? During our busy schedules, Social Media has become our only window to the outside world, and it basically presents the perfected image of life that, even though it could be far from reality in many cases, urges people to aspire for perfection. We are peer pressured into making our lives seem better and worth sharing that we forget to take real pleasure in it. We need to feel better about ourselves that sometimes we get pushed into this race where earning people's liking and admiration is a goal in itself, and this could be very stressful.
Even when it's time for the weekend, we load it with all that we dream of doing during the week and postpone to the day of leisure that we end up with a hectic weekend where we come out of too exhausted to work, or disappointed because we failed to fulfil all that we expected out of it.
Collect your thoughts
Time to schedule our work and perhaps note down the significance of everything we are doing, to reorganise our minds and find a space for leisure. It's also time to realise the importance of a real break, one where we allow ourselves to be, and maybe look around and appreciate some nature. It is crucially important to have a weekend that does not add to the burnout most of us already suffer from, to have a free space in the week for ourselves where we can just pause and take a breath. A lot of us can hardly afford to take a break even on weekends, but having time off is not a waste of time since it will probably have a noticeably positive impact on the quality of your work later. A break doesn't only allow us to recharge our energy it could be a chance for us to know ourselves better, what makes us happy and what we want out of life. Pixar said it best in (Inner workings); a short film that brilliantly depicted the idea of the conflict within oneself; wanting to have some fun and being chained to a desk, and how a short break can make even work seem fun.
The olive (recap)
Have a real break where you can actually enjoy life and perhaps reflect on your problems mindfully and without pressure; things may have more meaning and work may seem less draining.
