How to send and receive ebook ARCs on Kindle devices

Arc stands for Advanced reader’s copy. It is a Free Book in either an ebook or paperback format that is sent to readers (usually before the book release) in exchange for their reviews. Book reviews are crucial for every author who is building exposure for their new book. If you are a self-published author, you are probably searching for the best ways to send your book to book reviewers. If you are a book reviewer who prefers to receive your ARCs in the form of ebooks, the Kindle app is the perfect tool for this. Here are the steps of how to send and receive documents on Kindle devices.

First, you need to be logged in to your Amazon account.

Step 1

Write (Add an Email Address to Receive Documents in Your Kindle Library) in Google search bar, and click the first search result.

Step 2

Click (Manage your Content and Devices) the yellow button.

Step 3

Click on (preferences) in the top menu.

Step 4

Scroll down to (Personal Document Settings). It should be at the end of the list.

Step 5

In the Personal Document Settings, you will find your name and Amazon e-mail address under (Send-to-Kindle E-Mail Settings). The book reviewer needs to provide this email to the author. The author needs to send their e-book ARCs to this e-mail (in MOBI format).

Step 6

This step is for the book reviewer: To receive your ARC e-book on your Kindle device you need to approver the author’s e-mail. Add new a approved e-mail address, under (Approved personal document e-mail list). This is to prevent spam; you will only receive documents from the people you add to this list.

Step 7

This step is for the author: Using the amazon e-mail provided by the reviewer as the recipient, attach your e-book document (in Epub format) to the e-mail. (Kindle no long accepts Mobi files). Leave the subject line blank, the body of the e-mail must be blank as well, and press send.
